Keep it a game

Free, and still 19+

A street here sounds, looks and times itself the way a real gambling machine does, because that is what it was built from. That is why Scarlet Lantern is for adults at or over the legal gambling age, and why nothing on it is aimed at anyone under 19. You are asked twice: on the strip across the top, and again as a box you tick when the account is made.

What this street will never do

• Run, advertise or recommend gambling for money.
• Give out anything that holds value off this page.
• Sell coins, under any name.
• Carry a link to a casino, a bookmaker or an affiliate of either.
• Run a clock or a streak meant to drag you back tomorrow.

Worth saying under the lamp

A free machine can be tuned to feel warmer than a paid one, and when the purse empties we refill it for nothing. Neither of those is true where money changes hands. A good night on this street says nothing about a machine that takes cash.

Worth catching early

• You meant to head home an hour ago.
• Stopping leaves you short-tempered.
• You come here to get out from under something.
• Sleep, work or the people around you are losing time to it.
• You have started looking for the version of this with money in it.

Staying on top of it

• Decide how long you are staying before the first spin, not during.
• Leave the auto button alone.
• Step off the street now and then.
• Clearing this site's data resets everything; to stop for good, block the site in your device settings.
